In the Yoga lineage from which Tiffany descends, reading astrology is considered an essential skill for navigating karma. Kriyananda often used to say, “forwarned is forearmed.” Astrology is a largely objective practice and can be especially useful for seeing things that the mind has clouded with judgements or self protection.
Tiffany is skilled at reading Western Astrology, the type of astrology most commonly used in Western countries, with archetypes rising primarily from the Greek and Roman traditions. She reads from a karmic perspective, seeing the birth or natal chart as a map of the karma the soul is experiencing in this lifetime. Her readings are highly individual and are meant to foster greater self understanding.
Tiffany is skilled at reading three types of astrology:
Natal Astrology: gives an overview of the karma of the individual in the current lifetime, with some insight into past lives. When you hear someone say, “I’m having my chart read,” this is the kind of astrology to which they are referring. The natal chart is a map of the solar system at the time and location of one’s birth, cast at the moment of the first breath.
Predictive Astrology: compares the natal chart to the placement of the planets over a specified time period. This allows us to predict or illuminate major themes or events that will happen. People will typically choose 6, 9, or 12 months, although the reading will cover whatever time frame encompassed by the major themes of the time (often about 9 months). Tiffany has successfully predicted illnesses, accidents, and promotions for people using this method, although most of the time predictive readings illuminate less dramatic evolutionary trends (like having a period of self growth).
Synastry, or Compatibility Astrology: compares two natal charts to one another, giving a roadmap of the karmic ties and themes of a relationship. Synastry is typically used in romantic relationships but is also very helpful in understanding professional relationships. Tiffany will not tell you if a relationship is destined to succeed or doomed to fail; rather, she’ll help you understand its strengths and weaknesses so you may navigate it more skillfully.
Readings are $325 and can take up to a month to complete. Tiffany appreciates having ample time so she can be thorough. The reading is given in a comfortable setting—Tiffany’s home or studio usually—when there’s plenty of time for questions and discussions. Most reading appointments take 1.5-2 hours, although some have gone longer. You are encouraged to take notes during the reading and may make an audio recording if you wish. Tiffany will give you a copy of your chart and, if you would like, her handwritten notes.
